Title: Nov 4th / 5th
Post by: thedeuceman on November 03, 2016, 12:59:28 PM
this has been a long season, first time out march 29th (testing the new steering system on our GT150)
after much boating, and working on the Bal Harbor most of the summer on and off, and with lots of help from Jim and others, Jeff and i were able to water test it last Sunday.
so we are planning on launching at binies tomorrow around noon, and spend the night on the beach at kinni.
so if anyone is gonna be on the croix stop by.

Joe I have a feeling that you will probably be one of the only boats on the river. I would guess that 90% of MN and WI boats are winterized.

Guessing the only people you will see are fisherman with outboards.

Wish I could come out with ya but me and Kylee are heading north to deer hunt.

Ready for the 40° night

Although I don't think we're going to have to use it that much, this bugger kicks out a lot of heat(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161104/a7b8682e580f25b2e1178470e0d4427f.jpg)

Don't forget the CO2 monitor!

Seems oddly unsafe to have a heater in a craft with a belly fuel tank, but I believe the tank compartment is south of the sleeping quarters, and open to atmosphere area does exist above it.  A Carbon Monoxide(CO, not CO2) detector would be handy anytime fossil fuels are burned in a closed compartment.  I assume the catalytic heater has a low O2 sensor, similar to portable RV heaters?       This is assuming you intend to sleep while the heater is operating.  If just to warm up to get into bed, then I don't see any issues.  Personally, a nice blanket/sleeping bag is good enough for me, I love 40 degree weather.

Yeah, hopefully you've got cross ventilation and fresh air source...be safe!!!  Nikki and I lost a classmate who was overcome by a portable heater in an icehouse a few years ago.

I don't think you'll need it Joe. When we stayed in the 23 overnight in the apostles it stayed very warm in the cuddy all closed up. I think the lows were low 50's at the time. You got two 98.6 degree radiators in there!

The heater is new has a O2 sensor and a tip over protection.
I agree that I doubt we're going to need it
