Title: Gregg, You Should Have Put Your Merc on This and Beat Us All
Post by: David CVX-16 on September 21, 2010, 11:00:00 AM
Gregg, you should have put your old Mercury on this and beat us all.  Interesting aluminum boat. He is running the Hi-Performance 2-blade bronze props with 12" diameter for the smaller Mercs.

I have thoughts of putting my 115 Mercury on a hydroplane and doing 70 MPH, but it would be under ideal calm conditions, and how often does that happen?

Looks like fun !
Would not want to try it on the St.Croix on a Sat. afternoon though ...

Who knows ... It might be my old motor ...

Pretty cool. Don't believe I've ever seen an aluminum hydro before.

Brings back fond memories. My brother & I had an 11' Myers fiberglass hydro over in Miami back in the early 70's. Dunno what kind of hp you could've hung on it but it felt like we were going 100 with a 35 Johnson.

Guy that owns the machine shop here in Venice has a polished aluminum pickle fork with a blown big block in it. Have yet to see him out on the water but imagine that thing must be purty insane?
