Title: we are retiring........
Post by: Retro Performance on March 06, 2012, 07:02:21 PM
Mrs Retro & I have decided to close up shop in Delano. She is retiring and I will continue with Hannays in minneapolis. I will still be taking on a few special projects thru Retro but hope to have a bit more time for mine.  At this time we have put our parts inventory in storage, I think 11 or 12 cabinets 7 feet by 3 feet.....lots of Mercury and Mercruiser fair amount of OMC and Force......some misc. and even some Mercury snowmobile stuff. also misc. shop equipment.  Not sure what I am doing with it just yet.........could be for sale or trade or???  anybody with a pole barn looking to equip???  If you might be interested pm me.......cgoamn (the club) doesn't have a building do they?

Congratulations on retiring and semiretiring. The extra nonworking hours will add to your quality of life. Thanks for connecting with our group and sharing the vast accumulation of outboard and boating information. I hope our CGOAM has many outings this summer where we can enjoy our hobby and love of boating together. Hanneys and I go way back - bought a new white 1961 22 HP Mercury for $318 for a Pabst 11' racing boat that was my pride and joy for many years. Main lake then was Lake Johanna in Arden Hills where my 35 MPH could not keep up with the Hanney's Glaspar G3 boat with a Chrysler 65 HP, the three point Anthony Fantesy's with 80 HP Merc and Evinrude, or the Howard Pipkin Hydrostreams.

Thanks Guys,  Kenny and Ed Hannay are still around the store, Ken retired about two years ago(down to 40 hours in season) and Ed still works full time (he and I are the old guys around the store)).....My memory is that Howard lived on Johanna in the 70's ??  I still see howard now and then, I'm guessing that old 60 Renault won't keep up with you guys but we will try to get to some meets this summer.

Congrats to Mrs. Retro and yourself, Don!  ENJOY  My wife "hung up her calculator" (she was an accountant) on Feb 29 this year, gotta tell you I'm a little jealous.  (But happy for her, of course).  Time to relax a little and "smell the roses".   ;)

We use to go to the St.Croix, but most have under 20 footers and get beat to death by big rollers.
Last two years we've been going to MN. river & Miss. river. Less traffic and smaller wakes.
Pretty nice run from Hastings dam to the Ford dam ...
The MN. river's like a race track !

This is my "toy" dock at the 2011 Big Pine Lake Hot Boat Festival.........As Mrs Retro & I simplify life I plan to thin the herd a bunch.  I am thinking to sell the Challenger without Motor.....I may sell the V154 Futura but not sure yet.  If you might be interested lets talk, please send pm with phone or E-mail
