Love that green. Sweet Pickle. Looking sharp.

Steve, if you ever want to boat or test props at White Bear Lake, let me know. I have a Mercury Quicksilver 2-blade bronze 22" prop that might work on your boat or Gregg's boat.

(David) the 22p I wouldn't  mind trying. I still need to get a tach, I think tomorrow I may go down to Twin City Outboard and find me a tach. I have a feeling if I did all the little tricks like raising the motor and finding the right prop she might be really close to 60mph.  57.3mph is my best with stock set up on GPS and that's with the motor sitting on the transom, not raised at all.

Anyone wanna race while towing their boat, I have surprised a lot of people with the Trailblazer.

Might run into some steering cable problems if you lift it ...
Angle get pretty steep on transom mount and tilt tube set up bends cable in an " S " ...
Might not be a problem if you only go one or two holes.

I've been thinking about going up to the last hole, and shake the "3/4 Fast" nick name .. LOL
If we do a WBL prop day, I would like to try your Rapture ... If that's OK with you.

Not a problem Greg.  I've tried the laser ll 20, 21, 22p and didn't like any of them. I still have my sleeper 21pQss that rips but I'm over revving with it. It's faster than the Rapture but has more blow out in the corners.

Post by: Hyperacme on May 31, 2015, 12:49:45 PM
A 21P will most likely be over revin' my lower max rpm's (5250 rpm red line).
Dave's 2 blade bronze might work on your CV, the 2BB I tried ran pretty good, but over revved my motor ...

It's a Chrysler Aspen. I have heated back seats, remote starter, 2 USB outlets, 120V outlet, DVD movies, serius radio, a nice young lady that tells me where to go, auto adj seats, and stuff I don't even understand yet. I know it does 90 with the boat behind it (with Dottie driving) You won't have a chance in a race.

(Jason) I like that picture also, both rigs look tough.
(Jerry) who has a Chrysler Aspen? The SS has all those goodies but it also does mid 13s in the quarter and hits about 130mph on the top end, not bad for a 5,000 lbs suv. I will line up with that Hemi.

Now I know what a Chrysler Aspen is, basically a Dodge Durango. Nice ride, they are no slouch with the 5.7 Hemi.

That's the wrong car David...Jerry has a Chrysler Aspen, (which they don't make any more)...it was an upscale version of the previous generation Durango.  Nice SUV's, but if you google the 1/4 mile times for each, the TB SS is capable of low/middle 13's, where the Aspen comes in in the upper 15's, some in the low 16's...depends if its the hybrid version or not...you've linked to the 'new' Durango's, which I actually own, and love.

Thanks guys for that info!! I know the 5.7 Hemi has some grunt to it but not enough for the LS2. I have some of the minor hop ups done to it like cold air intake, engine tune, tranny tune, high flow cats, corsa exhaust, performance mass air flow sensor and it's all wheel drive with a clutch type transfer case. Motor wise it's making around 460 HP.

Sorry that I got the wrong vehicle.

To really settle the matter between Jerry and Steve, I suggest a dark lonely straight, long asphalt road marked off for a quarter mile. I'll be at the end of the quarter mile, and start my stop watch when I see the smoke from the starter's gun, and end the time when the first vehicle crosses the finish line.

Maybe Jerry G or Jerry S have connections to the use of timing equipment.

Does not Tom V and Alex have some fast vehicles that we could time also?

Drag racing tow vehicles?  Well I suppose we Americans will pretty much race everything from lawn mowers to semi tractors.  My excursion, V10, does everything a 7400 lb vehicle could be expected to.  Never had the inclination to go 90 towing, but 75 with a 24' pontoon was common.  If I was going to challenge the SS or Hemi, I would suggest bring a tow chain would be more suited to its capability.

That's what I originally wanted was a SRT8 Jeep but with the first generation SRT8 Jeeps they have no place to put the trailer hitch, there is one to install but it is awfully ugly and they don't have a tow rating worth the beans. On top of it all they are expensive, even used ones hold there value really well. A slightly tuned TBSS such as mine will hang with a stock SRT8 Jeep and when it's that close it really comes down to the driver. One day I will get a SRT8 Jeep second generation.

One thing that I found interesting is that all the NEW Hemi's are NOT actual Hemi's. Close but not the same design. Part of the new design of the new Hemi head came from Porch.

Wow you were lucky to have a secluded place to race with pavement. I was always in the open.

I had the most Fun with my 1980 Citation X-11 with a 2.8L v6 H.O.

If my memory serves me correct. The Speedo pegged at 80mph with 3000 rpm left on the 6 grand tach and I can remember that tach hitting 5 grand a time or two.
Unfortunately, that car met its demise during an impromptu race on the edge of my hometown city limits when I was doing 70mph and gave up the race to not get caught and down shifted my car and watched the tach peg it self 2 or 3 times.  The engine managed to limp around with a rod knock for a few months after I traded it in for a grand prix.

Redrock was a lot of fun. That video doesn't do it justice. I remember cruising university ave until about 10 at night then everyone heading down to redrock. It was a quarter mile of cars up and down the very small shoulders then cars and bikes racing down in between. Was pretty scary to be standing on the side of the road when the cars come flying by you. If i remember right the death was a guy on a street bike. It was all fun and games till the cops showed up.

At that time I was racing my 94 Lincoln Mark VIII.

At 9:09 is my brothers Maverick. At that time it had a 302. Now it has a supercharged 3.8 out of a thunderbird supercoupe.

It's just sitting until I get back to work. Have some really cool ideas for that boat but I would like to use those ideas first on the CV16X project. The 16 will be like no other when it is done.

I'll take on all comers towing their boat.

I think that as long as no one buys a car to just go 1/4 mile I have a solution for the best tow vehicle.
We hook up boats & each get 10 gal. fuel.
I'm betting my 4 cyl. Tacoma rated to tow 3500 lbs. will beat everyone at 25 MPG.

Title: Re: Finally out of storage!
Post by: David CVX-16 on July 09, 2015, 07:45:10 AM
My little 2002 Toyota Celica (140 HP, 1.8 liters, 5 speed manual, total weight 2,625 pounds) has a tow rating of 2,000 pounds. That will cover the weight of the boat and motor. Should get 25 MPG or better on the highway. Now I have to learn how to slip the clutch while pulling the boat out of the water.
