Hi Everyone,
I'm Grant Conklin, and a relatively new member of the forum. Thanks to everyone who has helped build the community long before I joined!
I'm 44 years old, and about 2 and 1/2 years ago I was walking with my family on the pier in Hudson, WI. We were looking at the boats, and I finally said "That's it! Life's too short to look at boats and not own one." So, I went in search of my 1st boat. I bought a 16' Larson Senza v-165 bowrider for $1200. I thought I got a good deal, even knowing that the engine might not be good. Turns out it wasn't. I paid $2650 to have a rebuilt Evinrude 110 installed. I'm learning. It might have been worth it, if I kept the boat 'till it died, but I got the bright idea to buy boats in the fall, sell them in the spring, and trade up with no out of pocket expense. Needless to say, I lost money on the Senza when I sold for $2500. And I lost money on a Junker '77 Lund I never should have bought. But hopefully I'm getting smarter in the buying phase, so I can do better in the selling phase. I currently have 2 Glastrons: A '94 SSV170 with an Evinrude 115, and a '91 2000 Cuddy model with a Mercruiser 3.0. Personally, I like the SSV170 better, but the family likes the cuddy. I may sell 1 or both come June.
Stay tuned for my 1st real project boat.... More details to come after I've bought it.
Thanks,
Grant

Welcome Grant,
I was gonna say you should just by a CV23 as it seems it's the boat we all end up with after going through all the options. Great family boat. Looks like you just made the jump!

Yes I did. I'm excited about it, but a little nervous about all the fuel I'll be burning, compared to my previous boats. But then again, we usually just cruise at 25, and then hit all the no-wake zones on the St. Croix, so maybe it won't be too bad. With the SSV170 / Rude 115 we average about 4 GPH on the St. Croix.

Welcome to the forum Grant, look forward to connecting on the river next summer.
or maybe sooner for a non boating event.

Welcome.
Yes, it looks like you're in deep now, but in a good way.
Family boating is what it is all about. for many years I ran newer ski/runabout boats and made the leap back in time. From what I'm seeing the 23 might be for you. That cuddy with a 3.0 would be a bit on the underpowered side I think; then again it depends what your after.
A good bunch of folks here bound together by resin. :)

Are you the one that chased me down in the Prescott no wake.
I was driving my red and white Cv23 you and your son came aboard and looked around.

Yes, that was me. I was trying to remember what your handle was - couldn't remember. Thanks again for taking time to show us your boat!
