After sitting in Ross's yard for the last 3 years time to make her shine again
-
One more
-
Flake and vinyl look OK ..
Wood rotted ?
-
All the wood has been replaced stringers, floor and transom.
The seats were redone many years ago and hardly evere used.
The flake is very faded out needs to be redone..
Plan is to flip over and remove the hook from the inside strake in and repaint. Will stay the same color light gray and silver metal flake.
Between this boat and my wonderful and understanding wife is where the addiction started.
-
Is that the boat you had at the 08 Glastron meet?
-
Wasn't it the 07 meet the first one.
I think that is the only one it was at.
-
It was the first meet in Lake City!
-
Oh sure, blame the wife. TheDeuceMan does that also. Lol ;-p

-
Started sanding. Top is about done.
Looking for some help to flip it over,
-
When.? I'll help if I can make it.
-
We've done several flips in the past using a long 2" pipe as a centerline, how are you planning to flip this project Jeff? From the sanding pictures, the original finish was not restorable, are you going to gel coat or shoot an intercoat clear? Same colors? Liked the 2008 meet photo, I recognize some familiar boats, is that bar fly?
-
I'm in for a flip - Let us know a few options that work for you.

Did a little work today

Jeff got a little more done yesterday ...

Looking good Jeff!
-
Jeff, for those of us (me) that doesn't fully understand the process, can you describe the steps you are taking which result in the hook removal.
-
Jeff is just filling in the hook. By laying a straight edge on the bottom of the boat you can see how much is there. On my 23 resto I ground out the back trailing edge and then filled the rest. Since Jeff isn’t doing the floor again he can’t add additional layers to replace grinding some out. He is just filling it to get it flat/ straight. Think of hook as a built in trim tab. He is also extending the center 2 strakes all the way to the transom. From the factory they stopped about 18” from the transom.
First step was remove gel coat to bare fiberglass. He is then using fiberglass filler( kitty hair). Then finish with regular filler (think bondo), epoxy prime, and paint/ gel.
-
Transom is in along with the knee braces
-
Great job! Is the bottom done?
-
Lookin' GOOD Jeff !

Thanks Greg.
I am thinking of using that for my current repair project on the '65 Futura.
