Question for Jerry-Old Johnson
« on: July 27, 2010, 09:31:47 PM »
Jerry

These old Johnsons (and I am sure others) used to have a remote box as part of the controls setup. I seem to remember that on our boat as a kid. Part of the ignition or what?
Probably not easy to find.
Thanks

yep. It's a relay box. The starter relay and generator regulator are in it. (if it has a generator) there are two different sizes. I don't have any extras, but "Boat motor recyclers" or "Twin City Outboard" Or out your way maybe Tim Olson may have one. If you can't crank that thing over to check compression, and he doesn't have the umbilical cord, (the wiring from the box to the motor) and the relay box, it's just a parts motor. (about $50)

Yeah I think I'll pass on anything that is missing controls and such unless as you say, get it for the power head but I can wait.
Thanks!
