Glastron Club to Acquire Building in Red Wing - LOL
« on: April 30, 2011, 06:51:03 AM »
Now we have several people who are fiercely competing for the hard luck trophy - Barb with the prop and gears, Doug with his boat, and now Ross with the engine. We may have to form a judging committee to decide the worse hard luck case, and build or buy a permanent building in Red Wing to house the many large damaged pieces, labeling by date of destruction and winner of that year's award. While we are at it, we'll acquire an extra large building and try to convince Andy to move his boat collection to Minnesota. I'll have a prop collection room. Anyone else have ideas or want special use rooms?

First thought was maybe an outhouse at the campgrounds but that would be too small for any entire boats.

Jason and Jeff would have a "marine engine switched while you wait" bay.

Brian would be chef in the houseboat clubhouse.

The houseboat at the end where we pull out belongs to my neighbor. He is also a collector of classic boats. We just have to figure out how to get him in a Glastron.

I would love a club house.  The members have an incredible wealth of knowledge.  More realistically I would like to see a club restoration project.  Like restoring a basket case.  Start by splitting the two halves, redoing the transom. Re- glassing the haul, spraying gel coat, painting, upholstery, wiring, and all the steps.
It would be cool to learn from others, not by trial and error in my home.  Next winter I would offer to help others with knowledge work on projects.  Or have others come to my nice heated man cave.
It would be prohibitive for the club to ever go to the point of a clubhouse with restorations seminars.  Insurance and the nasty chemicals we use would be a problem.
In my home shop, I and many of you in your home shops accomplish incredible restorations and as a small hobby bypass the regulations of a formal shop were seminars and the teaching or restoration of old boats would happen.

Come on over. I'll teach you more than you ever wanted to know. I have so many projects that need doing I could keep you going for the next 5 years. I won't charge you a dime for all my knowledge.

I suppose it would have to run? If not, I have a couple.

I've seen this on the lake I most offen go to. Always looked a little top heavy to me.
