I got a phone call today from a friend of mine in California, he and I have been rebuilding a 1980 scimitar by phone for the last 3 1/2 years, thats right, by phone. Bill bought this scimitar on ebay, drove 1300 miles to get it, got it home to find out it was not as it was represented, and has since, on the phone, and many hours later, replaced stringers, floor, transom, rebuilt the engine, replaced the drive, alignment, up-graded the exhaust, carboration, ignition, wiring, trailer brakes, lower unit, impeller, and more ... and today, he got a sucessful voyage on a lake near his place. I think you can all feel the vibe's I got from the conversation I had with him on the phone.
Just a note .... this man has sent me a check in the mail each month that has amounted to at least $10 to $12 an hour for the time I have spent with him on the phone, by appointments, in the evenings, he has one of those phones that sticks in your ear, he tells me what he's working on, and I tell him what to do with it, he is Not a mechanic, never built a motor, or a boat, never run any fiberglass, and got taken advantage of by a seller that probably didn't know any more about the boat that Bill did, So ... this was a Good Day for Bill ... and me.
Oh ... another note ... We got all three boats to the boat show today, both scimitars, and Barb's boat, we will spend tomorrow detailing, you guy's have'nt seen thses boats look so good, Barb's boat is setting Right under one of those big lights, the sparkle is Amazing, then the gold boat, between the lights, then the green boat, it's right under one of the other lights ... Holy Wow,,, we gonna make an entrance !
This is the fisrt year they have invited the classic's to the show ... we'll Be Back !
