Demo on the foam boxes started today. I hope to pull them out in on piece so I can make an exact match to them. Plan on picking up a long sawzall blade to get the foam loosened up.




looking good! and I like your OCC ( Outside Climate Controlled) fan lol, I have to use one myself, so  don't get overheated in this hot muggy sticky Ga weather...but to day humidity is lower than usual for this time of the year 53% makes the OCC fan feel like AC blowing lol

Well some more parts arrived today. I need to get them over to the machine shop to make sure they are able to be cleaned up. They look like the exhaust ports in the middle of the heads in jested some water at one point. Oh yeah they are a used set of vortec heads from Florida that I picked up for $150.

     If the pushrods came with the heads, keep in mind that Vortec engines were rollers, and the rods are shorter.   Not certain if your planning to go hydraulic or roller.   Should make for a good running engine, when do you suspect you will have it out on the water?

they do look in really good shape, I bet I could run them as is if I had an engine I could try them on. But they do need to be worked over by my machine shop.

The plan is right now to keep it Hydraulic. My target for water testing is next spring. I plan on having the hull done before winter(pending how much i stop and work on my remodel job on the house).  Then my winter plans are to go through and rebuild the drive and transom assembly, and build the engine over the winter after the 1st of January 2015.

I pulled the automotive through hull exhaust tips out to find my transom removal should be really easy. The wood is just falling apart. I hope to have the rest of the floor out this evening yet.

The transom on the cv16 I had was so rotted, and smelled like 2 stroke fuel, which btw I like the smell of for some weird reason lol, well the wood was easy to remove, but that rock hard resin, was a PITA. I used what others suggested, a air chisel and it worked like a charm

Just got the fuel tank out and the nasty front floor patch. I have a question under the tank, it looks like some one along the line has patched it the fiber glass is different.


And how about the look of the bow section not much left there. Good thing Mike gave me his stringer pattern.

Boats are like a box of chocolates " you never know what your going to get" until you bite into one. I have BTDT and got my tee shirt several times.

I know you will, over time refurbish this beautiful boat, sometimes I wish I kept the cv16 I had, but the box of chocolates was too bad, and had to throw it out:)

Yes it is! At least one thing looks good that came out of this hull, the fuel tank looks to be in perfect condition. I hope to have her gutted by the end of the day. I hope!

I ran out of trash can room today. Floor is out and all the foam is removed. All I can say is what a mess! I think my 20 gallon shop vac is at least half full of wood and foam. Everything is rotten which I was expecting. Tomorrow will be a lite day just going to do some measuring. I need to let the hull dry out the bow was soaking wet.

Mine had standing water in that forward compartment too Brandon.  Horrible design to keep that completely sealed with no drain...

I agree, there were a couple holes drilled in the bulk head to drain the water but it did not do any good. I am now contemplating building a drain system for the bow so the water will drain back to the bilge.

I just left a space at the bottom.   Water could, in theory, pass from the bow to the bilge without running into resistance.   The tank has some rubber blocks glued in to make the space open.   Not sure how water could get in, but at least it now has a way out.    Brandon, did you notice the floor is not flat in your Z?  it turns down at the tank bulkhead.

I remember you saying something about that when Amber and I stopped in over the winter while you were rebuilding Your Z. My bow area is so far gone is it hard to tell if there was a slope to it, I am sure I will find it when I take my measurements.
