Solid glass floor. What would you do?
« on: July 15, 2013, 07:55:47 AM »
Had a conversation with a customer at my workplace the other day and he works for an industrial fiberglass company here in town. I was telling him about needing to replace the floor in my boat soon and he stated that he replaced his with a solid glass floor and no wood. I gave him the dimensions and he called and quoted me $250 for a ready to install glass sheet that will have a reinforcement rib on each side of the center stringer.

All the supplies to do it myself and the time is going to run at least that amount. I'll just have to tab it in and be done. Most new boats are done like this. Never have to worry about it.

Thoughts?

Doug used a form of poly board on his V-153 ...
I think if you can make your CVX better ... GO FOR IT !
All the wood/fiberglass/resin and time would not be that much cheaper then $250.

I would do it.
I don't think many new boats come with a wood floor - at least not the size/style we play with.
