Winter Test Pond (Limited Time)
« on: December 10, 2013, 07:52:14 PM »
We will have open water for a few hours if you have a jet we will have about 5 inches to run in. But hurry it will freeze fast then it's skating time.

I think this has become an addiction.

Test pond is closed Ice Rink is open. Here is the pic from this morning snow and crystals on the ice. I will get out the hose and add a glamor layer tonight and then I have a homemade Zamboni that i used to freshen the ice after skating. Let the games begin

That is cool. Did you fill it with your hose or fire truck?

OK,  How does a homemade Zamboni work?   Let me guess, there's an old lawn mower housing and some propane involved.    Don

" Let the games begin "
I'm only good for one period, then I have to sit in the box, have a smoke and wezz for a period.
If the game involves any players under 18 years old I'm only good for half a period and you'll need oxygen on the bench !
If players are over 40 ... I can hold my own ... sometimes ...
I'm gonna need more Advil !

My neighbor puts one up every year. We just set it up the other day, it's ready now. They are a great way to take advantage of the weather, then tear it down and it's out of the way the rest of the year. He paints a center rink line on the liner before filling, then has uprights at the ends and runs a string of lights overhead. It's awesome! I'll be wearing shin guards when playing goalie this year... I took four pucks to the shin bone last year. Hurt for weeks... a lot! Things we do to make kids happy.

We used to pour one in the back yard every year in Buffalo. Mebbe not quite as big but close.

Every cool kid in the neighborhood hung out at our house. Mom loved it cuz it made her feel like she was keeping an eye on everyones kids. (Little did she know what was going on in the shed.)

My Dad hated it cuz we'd come in afterward & raid the fridge. 'Member him asking some of my bigger, more voracious buddys. "Do you have a kitchen at home? Does it have a refrigerator in it?"
