Personally I would park that boat until all legal actions have been resolved. Did you ever seek a claim against the person that that caused the DUI accident ?  It is sad that there our mechanic's taking advantage of honest people like yourself.

You now have some tough decisions, the cost to bring that boat up to you expectations may not be worth the investment, you may be better off purchasing another Carlson.  With a budget of 3k - 4k you can get into a Carlson, probable not a CVX18 but for sure the 16's and 17's.

There is a glastron dealer 185mi from me... What are the chances they will help me out with a engine assessment? Their service dept will be open tommorow at 12p so ill call and ask at least!

It cant hurt to talk to them but as Joe alluded to, I don't think I would fix anything until the legal crap is done with.
Just make sure you have documentation for everything. That is what a lawyer will want. Paperwork, pictures etc. It sucks  but hopefully you can recover from this and move on, sooner than later.
