That's awesome Doug!

A couple questions...

How's your life insurance written?

Do you think your 140 monster can spin 10k?

Maybe we are on different boating paths as I wan a faster yet heavier boat not a lighter one.

Besides I always say "Safety's third" so all of the above really doesn't matter cause you certainly have the looking cool and going warp speed handled.  :)

Doug be sure to put a kill switch on.  Just wondering where you drive your boat at high speed.  I thought everything is no wake around there.  My friend/neighbor who sold his CVX 16 moved to Ft Meyers from Nebraska.  We need to let you get to work now.

Lee County (Ft Myers) has a crapload of no wake zones. Yet has the highest number of Manatee killed by boat strikes. Meaning: MANATEE ZONES DON'T PROTECT MANATEE!!!
South Sarasota County isn't near as restricted. Though technically the speed limit in the ICW is 25 ...
Kill switch on dash.

I'd love to hear that drilled mid at 8000. Well actually just about any RPM is good. Sweet sound.

Well the C500 is moving to a new home tomorrow. Ron and his cousin Mark have almost finished Ron's CVX16, so I guess they figured while they're on a roll ...

That's the good news. Bad news is the Allison's gonna need a lil floor work aft. Wasn't expecting that. Hope it's the last surprise.

On the bright side, Ron's bringing along a '79 115 Erude that was on his CVX. Says he has no use for it. Condition unknown. Turns over. If'n I can make it run gonna hang it on the BAJA and sell as a package. With the galv trailer the Ally's currently on.

Got the string steering out. What a pita that was! Gauges/switches just about out, if it ever stops raining ... Looks like everything has plugs/connectors. Just need to mark the leads and disassemble?

Doug, two recommendations:

(1)  Change the topic of this thread to "Allison 15' Project"

(2)  Buy a 26" Raker Prop - don't think you can bend your 23" SRX to the steep pitch you need for the Allison.

Ironically Ron says he has a stock 24 Raker. Figger the boys down at Burris oughta be able to whack a couple inches into it for me? Fwiw Weiler thinks once I get the nose cone/lwp installed, might actually turn that Ron Hill 30.

Sounds good. I gave you misinformation on a 26" Raker. They only come in the 14.5 diameter. The 13 1/2's only go up to 24".

A Ron Hill Chopper in 30" on a 100 ci 140 making power on a boat that is under 1000 pounds ready to run with you in it. Nope I don't see that being an issue. I'd try it before dropping a dime on the 24.

I see that the Quicksilver Lightspeed (Laser II modified to fit OMC's) is made in a 26" pitch. That may be your ticket Doug, but as I stated in an earlier thread, I tested a Lightspeed against a Raker, and the Raker was much faster.

http://www.boatpropellerwarehouse.com/product/29515/lightspeed-13-1-2-x-26-quicksilver-rh-propeller-qs5126x

Watch out for bargains, I picked up a new 22" Lightspeed for $210.

Well we put the lid back on the C500, strapped it down, blew up the tires and off she went.

'79 Motor looks like we may be able to resurrect it. Appears unmolested. I just happen to have some hi-comp heads, and a bubble butt, and reed stuffers, and type III carbs. Hmm ...

But I gotta fix a floor in a Allison first.

Floor out. Just got a lil sanding to do around the edge. Stringer and everything else looks good. Thank God.

Rot was under one of the fuel tank mounts.

Okay we got all the decals off. What a freakin mess. Pulled up a buncha paint. Why does it do that in some places and not others?!

Plan is to strip her all the way down to the blue flake and repaint.  OR ... wrap it. Just be the deck. Lot of stress cracks to try'n hide. And there ain't a whole lot of acreage to cover, figger that might could be a viable option?

Regardless. What're y'all usin for paint stripper these days?

Also found several 4-5 lb chunks of lead screwed onto the lil "sub-floor" area under the bow. Y'know those are comin out ...

Seems kind of light / small for any kind of balance weight ?
Any guess what there for ?

Being a drag boat, the weights in front were meant to get the bow down quickly off the starting line (a guess)
