Front seats wanted
« on: October 23, 2016, 02:43:33 PM »

Hi all
I'm new to the forum but old in the boat repair business.
I have a 1982 Glastron Carlson C-535, in really nice shape. But when I got it, the front seats were removed, replaced by some folding fishing seats.
So what are you guys doing for front seats so they look like the original style buckets? I'd like to buy ones that look like they were  somewhat original style. I have no problem getting them re-upholstered. In fact, I'd rather have them recovered so the blue colors match the back bench.
Thanks in advance for any responses. Pics below to show the color, sorry no really good interior shots right now.

Welcome aboard Boatdoctor.

Don't you just LOVE $25 fishing seats.
Here's a picture from the '82 catalog. I have a '80 CVX 18 and the front buckets are similar.

See my seat teardown and rebuild threads here.

Here is a pic of my seat pedestal.

If this is helpful I can send you patterns for the front buckets like mine.

Welcome to the forum Boatdoctor  !

Look thru the 1983 brochure, some Glastron model had what looks to be the same style seats.

Sorry I'm being Captain Off Topic here, but to me, does the 500/17 and even the 16 seem like it has more back seat room than the -18's and -20's? I know they're not as wide, but the back of my -18 was very cozy as far as leg room.

I believe my CVX-17 seats are very similar, if not identical.
Starboard is fixed, Port swivels.

Are your seats wood frames or the wire frames ?

Wood as far as I have seen.
They also set on glassed in bases as opposed to metal pedestals.

I ended buying some old seats from a different boat, and they're getting recovered to match the interior.

Yes, I picked them up from my upholstery shop a few weeks ago. I just finished the install, complete with swivels.

Nice - looks like what was pretty much in there to begin with. 8) Definitely a 1000X better than the Lund fishing boat seats! :P
