Maybe you could have his and hers tri-hulls?   Not sure why you want trailer brakes on a light craft, but I'm sure you have your reasons.

Actually Phoenix is not that light. 1700lbs fully loaded with gear and fuel. And if we want to tow it with our 2014 Outback anything above 1500 lbs must have brakes.

FYI:  Ben put new lights on the trailer not long ago.  All work great.

Brandon,

When are you coming to get Ben's boat?
We should have a breakfast, lunch, or supper meeting!

Good thought Jim! We are planning on the weekend of December 3rd and 4th. I will start a new topic.

Thanks to all the CGOAMN members who helped in this endevour.
In the process, I learned that the Ford Ranger tailgate can be easily removed!

I got the shop crane assembled today and easily lifted the engine out of the pickup truck.
It is on a movers dolly and I will roll it to a convenient place after I drain the water jacket and winterize with antifreeze.

The Mercruiser 140 engine in Ben's boat didn't have a hoist ring on it.  The bolt holes where a hoist ring would go had a circuit breaker bracket in them.

Is that common for engines to have no hoist rings on them?
What do people do when they need to hoist the engine?
Unbolt the circuit breaker (like I did) and bolt on a hoist ring?

Is there a way to have both a hoist ring and the circuit breaker mounted?

-edit-

It looks like maybe you could have both the hoist ring and the circuit breaker bracket if you used this one (Mercury 67850)?

The brackets should be overlapping. This is how my 74 is set up.

I thought there was a second loop on the back of the motor (port side)...........I'll have to look again. Can't find a picture.

Thanks for looking at that.  I ordered one of those hoist ring brackets on Sunday.

This morning I looked back at my photos of the first 120 engine from the boat, and there is the same dual-located brackets.

Any idea why some engines have hoist rings installed and some don't?
