1990 Glastron 16CSS with 120HP Evinrude

My son Paul and I went to inspect this boat for him near Eau Claire, Wisconsin today. Owned by a family with a cabin in Wisc. who live in California. They use their cabin only two weeks a year, and the boat is stored at Marine Plus the rest of the time. The 120 HP Evinrude's VRO failed, scoring the cylinders, with at least new pistons and rings needed. Overall the boat is in good shape - good windshield, transom solid, some light scratches in the bottom of the hull, minor nicks at the bottom of the transom, small rip in fiberglass above rub strip near passenger's side, rust on trailer, trailer tires cracked, and steering wheel play. Canvas cover in 2014 at $800, 20" Raker prop in good condition, and gel coat that needs only minor buffing to make the boat shine.

We were entertaining the idea of putting my 1988 115 HP Merc on it, but decided against buying it, mainly because my son Paul and I boat together much of the time, and my 1987 CVX-16 is metal flake, and detailed so much better inside and out than this boat.

But for the asking price of $2,300, it presents a solid platform for someone to bring it to pristine condition without that much trouble.

E-mail me if you want more details or the contact information.

Paul my son was thinking of buying it. I would have sold him my 1988 115 HP Merc at cost. The boat, I am sure, is lighter than mine since the 16CSS is so basic compared to the CVX-16 - seats thinner and smaller, storage bin not for oars/skiis, etc.

Like any boat 27 years old, it would require a lot of restoration, and my son does not have as much patience as I have. Then he would need a tow vehicle. It would be nice if he had chosen to do so. The boat and motor together would have been a beautiful and fast combination. Then I would have known which motor was faster, the 115 HP Johnson or 115 HP Mercury.

Paul has first rights to my boat when that time comes.
