Picture upload tutorial??
« on: August 30, 2019, 04:06:22 PM »
I've tried multiple times to upload photos without success. Thank you for the offers but I'd like to figure it out so I can do it!

I tried the "attach" and "browse" option and the photos aren't that large. Is there another step I'm missing?

Is there a tutorial anywhere that someone has "sticky" posted?

I played around with the youtube uploader and figured that out. I'm using Firefox as my browser and tried Explorer without luck, as well.

Well, I use an off site image hosting site: postimage.org

It is a free image hosting site and has been stable for a few years now.

Upload a picture, go to Share, and then Hotlink for forums.

I mostly view/add to this forum from my phone using Tapatalk pro, easy to load pix and can load many per post. Though I think I had to pay for the pro ver.

I'm using the free version of Tapatalk and it uploads pictures as well.

Doran ..
Would Tapatalk take over your browser ?
Can you go back to your Google Chrome / Safari browser if wanted, use one or the other ?
Jeff's having problems loading large pictures off his iPhone.
Guess I should just do a google search for Tapatalk ...

Tapatalk being a phone app, not sure how it would take over a desktop browser?  I just attached the bluebell photo, using the 'Attachment' button then browsing to the photo...no problems here.

One thought...Apple moved to a new format .HEIC a while ago.  I'm not 100% sure that's compatible on the forums.  On our iPhones/iPad's I always go to Settings -> Camera -> Formats and change the setting to 'Most Compatible' so it takes photos & video's in JPEG/H.264 vs the oddball HEIC/HEVC format.

2nd...if you're attaching a photo from your phone/computer, you cannot use the 'Insert Image' button, that's for Image 'Links' where you're using a service like Photobucket to host the image.   If its on your computer, you use the ' + Attachments and other options' link directly below and then browse and attach the photo.

Ha ha!

It worked...b/c the xXXliner (my friends) had just being raised...a storm apparently allowed his air lift to sink, then the boat sank torn shift boot!

It is...boat sank until it rested on the lift underwater...so it sat like that for a week they figure.  If the lift wouldn't have been there to hold it...it would have gone to the bottom.

Po1973 / Patrick,

Perhaps the link below will help you. I too, was having problems getting photos to upload, until a suggestion from Gregg spurred me to find this information. Once I cut the individual photo size from 72 to 36 pixels per inch, all my photos have loaded successfully.

I use a Mac, but the link starts with PC techniques.

Good Luck!

That's a good tip...the forum software like to time out (disconnect) on the upload of very large pictures...we've tried adjusting things, but haven't ever been 100% successful as you've seen.

The Tapatalk app (free) does the resizing & hosting for you so that also works really well as an alternative solution.
