Buttons fabrication
« on: December 19, 2017, 10:39:41 AM »
Does anybody know where I can have these buttons made?

Putting a new interior in the cvx18 I bought this fall, and color change so buttons will not match.

Personally I would not put buttons back on. I would go with out.
I think this has become an addiction.

I seem to remember a diy place that allowed you to make them from scraps of your marine vinyl/fabric so the match would be perfect.  A must have for the classic look.  I had made some for my 16ss, so the info is here somewhere.  I could not find anyone to make them for a decent price, so I did a DIY

Same here. I really like the interior of the early CVX18. But if your going for original then keep em.

Guess I could figure out away to attach the vinly covers on top of the dash,  the earlier 18s did not have these.  They came after the new dash.

Jeff ... do a Google search for "Making vinyl buttons"
There are "How to's" & DIY kits.

Done some research my neighbor has the press to do it, I am just not willing to spend the dollars for the press dies for 8 buttons.

How much are the dies?  What kind of press?  I might be interested in acquiring the tooling to add to my services.  I need some for my boat(s) as well.

Any upholsterer should be able to do it.  I have an upholster in a town of 500 and he made me a couple while I waited.
