So in case any one is wondering what happens when you go on the wrong side of a buoy on the river this is it.
We went on a trip last weekend in the big boat. Well everyone else did I made it most of the way. I was driving along seen the buoy and went to the right of it. I was about 30 feet away and happened to look at my depth gauge. It read 6ft I thought thats shallow for the St Croix. Then it went to 5 ft I really thought then. Then all the sudden it went 4,3,2 bang, bang , bang , grind, scrape, bang. Then I went motherXXXX, Son of jidcwi, this continued for about 2 minutes. I was so mad that the buoy was mis-placed by about 30 feet. Luckly I was right in front of a marina so I called them and told them I had hit rock and the boat needed to be hauled out for repairs. They sent a boat out to push me into the travel lift. It wasn't until I was back up top at the helm when I noticed a red buoy to my far right (Red Right Return) I was to the right of the green buoy when this happened, they did not mis-place the buoy after all. Then I just felt dumb because it was only my fault. I had been threw this same area probably 50 different times. With out a problem.
Live and learn always pay attention to the color of the buoys.
