Just try some "Heavy Compound" first and see what happens, or start with 1500 grit.
You can alway go to courser grits. Do small areas.
Gel is pretty thick stuff, just go easy around corners and edges.
One member has tinted clear gel, to bring back color.

Search and read into how boats are made …
Heavy coat of "CLEAR" gel, or multiple coats are shot into mold which is what your sanding and compounding on.
Then a thin coat of flake is shot, which give it it's color.
You just want to knock off that dull top layer, then get finer and finer grit's to bring back deep shine.
That spot where horn was is what your going for .. Use it as your bench mark ..

Last question for the day  ;D My boat has a rear facing seat that is fixed. I noticed a boat that has a jump seat that folds away. I’m assuming both are factory, but which one was more popular? Thanks! Below is a picture of my seat and the boat in question.

WOW !   Never saw that ?
Not sure if it was even an option ?
Your interior was jet only, I/O's were different ..

Weird right? I know the owner of the boat from a different forum and his is also a jet like mine. He had never seen a rear facing seat like mine. But I found several brochures showing my style seat and non of his. His is a 78 model while mine is a 77.

I am taking my boat in to get professionally winterized tomorrow.  The winters sneak up around the PNW and I dont want to take any chances. They claim they will drain, fill with antifreeze, fog, put fuel stabilizer in the gas, as well as do an oil change. I thought the price of $150 was a little steep. I will be more comfortable with it next year i imagine to do it myself. Does anyone else here take theirs in to get done? or am I just a wuss?  :o

$150 isn't terrible for the work involved.

That boat is beautiful! Hard to find them as original as that one! Especially a CV23 that is typically stored outside. Hope I get to see it in person some day!

Jason I was looking at a thread of yours from a couple years ago and you have a picture of a full enclosed soft top on your boat. can you share more of those!? I would love to see more photos of the boat with it up as well as know where you got it!?

I have an outboard .. But if you don't feel confident doing it, $150 is cheap insurance.
I've used this stuff for a few years now, it work well. Kept gas good for over a year in my gas can for lawn mower / blower / snowblower / etc. I put it in anything that will not be used for two weeks or more.

Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment.

You can get it at most home, auto and big box stores.
I've never had good luck with Stabil.

I had someone else message me before you if they don't take it Ill be in contact.

Its in pretty good shape. A few stains and the clear glass part is cloudy with a couple cracks. The biminni is in pretty good shape except one of the fitting however you can buy them pretty cheap. It is set up to go on the forward facing windshield. I have my old windshield that has all the holes drilled where the snaps were installed. The drivers side half has one crack other than that it is in good shape. I can include the windshield in the sale if it is needed or wanted.

Looks nice! Looks a lot like mine.

FYI: In the last picture that shows the shady repair you can still buy the fittings the original plastic fittings. I had to replace one of mine.
