Outboard shaft length

(1/4) > >>

ahlenius:
Does anyone know what the minimum outboard shaft length for a 1985 CVX 17 would be? I have an Outboard lined up with a 20" shaft length, but i see others for sale with a 25" shaft length.
Not sure what to do here...Do not want to spend the money on an outboard that won't work. Thanks

Somebody will correct me if I am wrong, but a 20" shaft is what you want.

Hyperacme:
20" is correct length.

Plugcheck:
20" is correct for most craft, 25" is for pontoons and very deep vee boats.

GCarlover:
I know from pictures that the hull in question has a stepped transom allowing the OB to be raised on the transom like they do with Bass Boats.  Most dealers raise the mount one hole or 3/4 " on a standard 20" transom.  Can someone please verify this?  The Cav plate needs to be flush or a little higher than the back of the hull.  Don't get it too high for skiing or prop slip loss will be high.
