I like it, I  like it.

Thanks for the updates and info!  I've got one little project to knock out, then I can get to some t-shirt graphics.  Once set up, I'll post the link !!

I'm pretty sure you're right.  Erik (CV23) might be at the resort with his wife, too.

We're going to be in one of the cabins Dan - closer to where all the action's at!

At one of the State Park Cabins Erik?  I'll add you to the list!

yes cabin #1- thanks Doran!

Erik, looks like we will be neighbors with very similar boats.  I am in cabin #2 and will be bringing the CV23 if we get the engine build done and get her running before then.  I guess if I don't get that accomplished, then you will have an Intimidator sitting next door.

Tell Mike we're thinking of ordering pizzas on Thursday night.  I'll pick them up in Centerville and drive them out.

Ordered a "Best of Show" trophy today ... I'll come up with some voting slips and everyone can vote on the attending member with the best boat.  When the trophy arrives, I'll get a photo posted.

Jury's still out on whether we'll be able to make it this year. Tried last year but hopefully we'll have better luck this time. :(

Sled -
You will meet many more people in Red Wing.  This is only the second year at Rathbun, and honestly, they're both different animals.  We've got good interest this year for Rathbun.  I attended Red Wing for the first time last August and had a great time - was still tinkering on the boat and left before the rain, and I can't wait to do it again.
We'd welcome you here in Iowa.  Water temps on the lake are currently 36 and the Corps of Engineers is holding normal pool - so we've got 11,000 acres of water to play on.  We ought to be warmed up nicely by the second weekend in June.

I'd concur with Dan.

Both are fun, but both are different.  More people at Red Wing (like 40+ more boats, and 100 more people), the river is interesting & fun for those of us who are lake boaters.

This year, Rathbun will get a few more 'Southerner's' as Old Red & Georgia and also Barb & Kat are making the trip, but not for Red Wing.

Its really a pick yer poison...though Red Wing is our Big meet...and if you can only make 1, I'd recommend Red Wing...its a blast.

If the river makes you nervous, then by all means, come to Rathbun!

I liked Red Wing really well, a lot of fun for me and the Fox, some of the best folks you could ever expect to meet, as well was Muscatine, that show had more to do and look at than any show we have ever attended, not a Glastron meet, all kinds of boats, old motors, old hydroplanes, river rides, and races, but it was a Long drive, 900 I think,  Red Wing was an 800 mile drive, so we will be doing Rathbun this year, it's a 500 mile drive.  We had just about decided we would not be attending meets further than a days drive for us, but now that we got this little motor home that decision may change, we will see, kinda depends on how much gas the litte fellow uses.

Rathbun area received considerable rainfall over the past few days.  The Corps of Engineers says that yesterday's level was 6.9 feet above normal pool, with an expected crest on April 24th at 12.75 feet above normal.  The downstream tributaries are currently running high from their own run-off, so Rathbun cannot release water until those downstream conditions improve.  The maximum release of 800 c.f.s. will open up when those areas settle down.  I'd expect to be just above normal pool by our Rathbun meet.  Would be nice if we can hang on to some of the water, though.

Here we are, a month and a half away from the Run on Rathbun.

I'm looking out my office window watching it snow.  Hope it's all melted by June.  I'm ready for spring.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm already having to mow in Des Moines, and I'm 90 mins North of Lake Rathbun.  (Although I think they're getting snow right now as well...)

Heck my neighbors here in Central City, NE have already mowed at least 3 times and watered the grass at least double that already. Thankfully we missed the snow here just got an inch of rain, but it is colder that heck here. Can't believe it is supposed to be 60 degrees here tomorrow.

Well, it was snowing today - big ol' fat wet flakes.
The next 9 days look sunny.  At least no moisture expected.  I can get my deck finished, patio doors installed, then play with the boat.
No mowing yet, although it will need it in the next day or two.  Last summer did my lawn in, I'm not sure how much fertilizer is going to help me this year.

I bet the campgrounds look great ... maybe I can go check them out this week.
