You might not believe this ...
« on: November 18, 2012, 05:58:02 PM »
60.3 mph today in the Baja 15ss spinnin the 13 3/4x24 SRX prop for the first time, sans bimini top. Tbk it weren't all that uncontrollable? But definitely got the adrenaline goin'. My favorite drug ...

Wow Doug, what a jump from the previous record of 57 MPH. Congratulations.

I know how I felt hitting 55 MPH in the CVX-16.

I knew I was goin a lil faster'n usual but when I looked over @ that GPS afterward? Let's just say I was pleasantly surprized ...

Fairly stiff east cross wind but she didn't seem to care. Handled purty good with a lil chine walk way up top.

The SRX seems to lift the stern more than the Lightspeed. Took a lil while to get used to that when applying trim. Still ain't quite used to it tbh. Bet there's another mph or two there under less windy conditions.

WooHoo!

What a difference no bimini and runnin the SRX prop make huh. I had to tap on the gps a couple times to make sure my eyes weren't decieving me ...?

Had about 9 gal of fuel, half full cooler, anchor, and my gear/tool bag onboard. Plus there was an easterly crosswind. Under perfect conditions with less of a load I'd wager 62 mebbe?

Really happy with the way it tows with the new springs'n the axle moved back. Makes a big difference when pulling it and also launching/retrieving.

edit: We were in kinda a rush & forgot you have to put the fenders on before the tires, oops! But I'll fix that this week.

Nah, no need for anything that extreme Gregg. Just get a bigger motor. Remember, my Baja happened by accident ...

Don't fergit I still got the C500 resting out on the back 40. Don't jump the fence just yet.

Therein lies the conundrum Gregg. My personality is such that once I gets some, I wants a lil more ...?

Todays outing:

edit. For what it's worth the boat isn't at all uncontrollable at that speed. Ironically it's when ya decide to slow down too quickly, she feels like she wants to swap ends?

Boy I dunno Brandon, think I'm approaching 'terminal velocity' as it is. Not sure I wanna go a whole lot faster in this hull. Though I'll say one thing she rides very flat & stable. No major chine walk to speak of.

Well, til ya start airin the bow out a lil too much. Funny but the 153 could take all the positive trim ya could dish out. Not so with the Baja, she don't like trim so much ...?
