Speaking of rental cars ...  Do you have to pick up a car @ the airport? Or are there places nearby? Meaning within walking distance. How can one save a couple bucks?

Oh btw Red Wing is official. Flyin into MSP Thursday afternoon'n aint leavin til Monday morning. Got me a room booked at the Days Inn too.

Seriously, any tips on or help with renting a car would be greatly appreciated.

MSP is a huge hub for Delta...rental cars o'plenty on premises...

Speaking of Corvette's, our cleaning lady at work bought a new 2012 white convertable Corvette back then with only 4,000 miles on it now. Wants to upgrade to a 2015 but it will cost her $15,000. And the neighbor boy bought a 2014 Corvette.

After pricing higher end cars (Yike$!) I think I'm gonna stick with the pos economy version ...

Really looking forward to this trip. It's all I think about. Haven't seen Venice in the rear view in a long long time. '06 was the last time I took anything resembling a vacation. And that was Thanksgiving in NC the spring after my Dad died. (Whoopee ...)

I find it very hard to believe that going from a used C6 to a new C7 will only cost $15k...sticker prices, maybe...but dealers are marking a premium fee of $10-15k on them over sticker!

Hey Doug, if I remember correctly, by the time you check all the boxes for added insurance at Hertz, I don't think we paid over $200 a day for the Corvette. Quit being so tight with your money !  Lol
I think the Kia we had this time was around $40 a day.

Heck only $200 a day? That's pocket change. Yeah I'm gettin quotes of around $35 a day, plus. (The "Adrenaline Collection" runs a lil higher ...)

I dunno about this "camping" thing. Did alotta that when I was younger. Being almost eaten alive by fire ants and nearly carried away by skeeters. Ah the fond memories ...

Considering the hotel's posed to be only 8 minutes from the campground I hope not to miss much of the action?

Very cool you're going to make it this year. You just never know from one year to the next if you'll miss anything, leaving to go back to a hotel room or not. I've(we've camped every year. Going on 6 years now. Much shorter walk/no driving.
