Title: New Member From Ga
Post by: buckz6319 on July 05, 2013, 11:24:09 AM
Hey, from Ga!

I look forward to all the information, tips, tricks, pics, that will help me with my restoring of my newly required 1975 Glastron-Carlson CV-16, don't know much about this boat, except it has a great racing heritage , great boat builder behind the name. I have always wanted one of these styles, now I have one. I'll be looking, searching, reading, sharing info
thanks for letting this Ga boy join in on all the fun!

Hi Buck, you've just joined one of the best support groups on earth for the Glastron/Carlson addiction!  Great folks here always willing to help with info and advise, don't be afraid to ask questions.  What part of GA are you in?  I live in Jackson (about 15 min from Lake Jackson), but work in Forest Park near the Atlanta airport.  Don't be afraid to give a shout if you need anything, glad to help where/when I can.

Few problem spots in the CV's ...
First is the small half round drain in rear, hole's were drilled 2 inches above bottom of hull ... so water sat in bottom of hull and absorbed in to flotation foam and stringer wood. The rear two feet of my floor was also rotted from water splashing on it.

PO didn't seal holes for speedo pilot tube mounts and my transom was rotted/cut in half ...
Yours might be OK if PO sealed your right ...

Some how water got in on the left side and rotted upper left corner of transom, foam was dry and top was sealed with glass, so don't know what happened there ...
