Personally I'd take a 20 doing 75 over a 16 doing the same speed.
When I win the lottery I'm gonna put a pair of 400R's on a CV27.

Right now I am pretty happy with a 70mph boat with my regular everyday gear including my drink cooler with a 10 pound bag of ice in it. I figured I wanted to see what it would do under normal conditions. We did spend alot of time on the bottom but we did not change the design at all. We just fixed all the dings and chunks so that it was as slick as when it was made. In that sense it is original. I would guess that the boat is considerably lighter than it was from the factory due to the ceramic transom and honeycomb floor. There is also only two seats and quite a bit less foam as almost all of that was removed. We also did not put all the frilly trim around the cockpit etc.... The purists probably hate that but I like the clean look of the boat. If I had to guess I would say just the hull is arouond 650 pounds rather than the 750 it was from the factory. I really do not think I am going to try to do anything to the boat or motor to get more speed as I am pretty happy with the performance right now. I think the best part is that we still did over 70 with two people in the boat. That to me is awesome!!

It is awesome for a 16 foot boat with a factory stock 150 HP to go 70 MPH quietly, without strain, without constant correction of the steering wheel, and with stable handling.

My scaled down version is a Glastron/Carlson 1987 CVX-16 with a straight hull with no nicks or scratches, without a hook at the end, running a stock 1985 115 HP Johnson weighting 302 pounds, achieving 55 MPH at about 5,400 RPM, with effortless steering and predictable handling.

@David CVX-16 hey David - what prop were you running when you hit 55mph in your CVX-16? I have a '78 with an '80 Merc ToP 115 and top out at 42mph @ WOT. Getting up to speed is effortless but it feels like she's got a lot left

My faster props are a OMC Raker 22" pitch and a OMC SRX 23" pitch, hitting about 55 to 57 MPH GPS at about 5,400 RPM. You should be getting much more than 42 MPH. Try a Laser II 20 to 22" pitch.
