Kip ... Your CVX would even look good behind a Chevy Chevette !

Doran .. Looked like ya had a few buyers, were they waiting on test drives ?

Believe Trent has the first "On the water" pictures for 2018.
Waiting for "First on the water in MN." pictures ...

Drag is the operative word.  Live webcam shot from lake Minnetonka.  No waves, plenty of Snowmobile tracks visible.  Solid Ice.

There's interest.  I brought it home early specifically b/c the guy had 'cash in hand' and wanted the boat 100%.  Then of course, he doesn't...he thought he was getting a brand new mint 'barn find' for $2500...which I told him it wasn't before making the trip up.

So...then he flaked.  There are more interested, but I need to change out the gear lube before I start it up.  The blower and bilge also conked out after a wave at the meet last summer, so I need to fix that as well.

Finding a 30 year old boat in perfect shape for $2500 doesn't seem out of the question ...
I'm sure he'll find one ... Eventually ...
LOL

The electrons couldn't find their way home is all.  Glad to hear it was a simple fix.

 My thoughts, hold your price.

Seems more than fair to me, and the peak market for our machines is still 30 days off.  It can be frustrating dealing with buyers but you have to understand there are a lot of tire kickers out there.  I’d say 10% of your contacts are live buyers ready to move.  Once on the property you simply have to close the deal, and that is an art in itself.  Jovial, yet serious, at an early point ask the buyer if they have an offer?  (No matter what discrepancies they find). At that moment you will find if they are a tire kicker or not.  Be ready for a low offer . . . immediately reject it.  And just like that they have committed to the buy, and it is just a matter of what the final price will be.

As odd as it is I find this game entertaining.  The read of the buyer/seller of each other.  If the other sides refuses to budge, slow the process, significantly, uncomfortably really.  This gives each side a moment to think and realize what is at stake.

A couple days ago I sold a 2001 Honda 30Hp four stroke with the forward controls on Craigslist.  The guy that bought it from me I think out smarted me. We were a few hundred off on the price and he simply, slowly, methodically outlasted me.  I know I left a few hundred on the table because I wasn’t patient enough.

Best of luck.

David

Not supposed to use wire nuts for marine. Get a couple butt connectors. The wire nuts with vibration fall off.

Certainly a lot of ways to make the connections, solder/shrink, terminal block, molex, auto plugs, etc....   What I would question is why are there two sets of splices mere inches from one another?   Just sets up another failure point.

I'm betting two weeks from tonight the "Date" will be sitting in her slip on Minnetonka. ;)

Another week I'll be dragging her out! 8)

What did you use to cushion the jack on the hull with Jason?

Rubber mat.

Pretty scary lifting that monster up. You can feel all the weight is in the rear. Not much effort to lift the front end.

Thanks to a large pad on the rear of the boat you can lift the entire rear with one jack and a big block of wood.

Looks like a somewhat painful process, at least for me getting up and down that much.  Are you reworking the trailer?  Brakes?

Already got disk brakes. New wood, carpet, fenders on one side, paint.

Here is the State of Minnesota ice out indicator. Expand the map to view the lake you wish to check, or write in the name of the lake, and check for a colored drop indicating the ice is out. I do not see a drop for White Bear Lake, but nearby lakes, including Lake Owasso, etc., have drops. It should not be long before the prop testing 2018 commences.

Interesting trailer extraction process...so you alternate two floor jacks as you move section by section?  Did you use wood supports along the keel once trailer was moved out far enough?  I've got a trailer that needs some attention also, so I'm curious on the method & risks.

I was able to lift the entire boat using two jacks. One under transom with a large 6x6 spanning the width of the pad on the bottom of the boat. then another jack under the keel in about the middle of the boat (no wood, just rubber to keep it protected and from slipping).
Pullled the trailer forward enough to get two jack stands under the chines directly under the transom.
Then it's just alternating one jack to the next under the keel as you pull the trailer forward to get around each cross member of the trailer.
All the while having two 3 year old spotters to make sure nothing goes crazy......or to keep things crazy!!
I have it sitting on wood blocks in the back between the jack stand and tansom but nothing under keel as it's too tippy.
If I planned on having it sit this way for a while, i'd build a cradle like Shawn did to support the boat better.

Did the same thing to my CV16SS a while back.

Seems relatively easy to do - I wouldn't have it setting that way for long, only to attend to a few trailer updates.  Could you post a couple pics of the supported hull?

I can get more detail later if you need it. These are big heavy duty jack stands also. 12 ton. Probably would be a good idea to add another under the pad I suppose.

That’s the same thing I did with the 1900 when I swapped trailers. I have a wood block with a V cut into it I use for the keel when jacking.

Did something similar long ago with my V234 so I could pick up another boat with the trailer.  I got the back off just enought to put stands under the back and a beam across on stands with the bow up enough so I could pull out the trailer.  I just bought an old style hoist from the 50's that was used originally for old inboards with the bow and stern D rings that went through to the keel.  This one was actually used up to last year with slings with a very new Malibu ski boat.  I am actually going to convert into a boat shed with tarp to be able to pull my smaller boats off to work on them and the trailer in different ways.  If it was heavy duty enough for a Malibu with an inboard V 8, should do up to my cvx 18.  Next project is rotisserie idea... think i have a good plan there to use the hoist structure and something else.  The hoist came with nice heavy duty top, motor, and cables, if anything would make nice portable shed for boats.
