Prop Testing in 2018
« on: April 17, 2018, 04:00:11 PM »
Went out and purchased the 22" Raker that Gregg posted on the "Raker" thread. The seller is buying a new pontoon boat for his cabin and has no need for this prop bought years ago. Yes, it is new.

Now I have three 22" Rakers, and the plan is to test all three on the same day by GPS and sell the slowest one.

Then some one from the Twin Cities has a nice 23" SRX prop that he wants to test with me against my current SRX for a benchmark speed.

Those are the prop plans for this year.

Had not thought about that. Lake X in Northern Minnesota is the only 24-7-52 lake in Minnesota. Understand it's fed by a underground stream of antifreeze from vast car junkyards in the surrounding hills.

I'd love to have you join in the testing Gregg. I'm thinking WBL just as soon as there is open water. You'll have to tell me your work schedule hours so we can work around them. My two 22" Rakers are 1 MPH apart in top speed, and both were purchased like new. Interesting to see how the new one will perform.

In addition to turning the wrenches, you may have to drive also - the racing team is thin this year - lost a lot of sponsorships.

I lost a lot of weight ... Might be a good driver for top speed runs ...
I still have Fri. / Sat. off until Aug. 1st.

One of these years I may the raise motor and install hydraulic steering. But I am enjoying my boat as it is. Thankful that there have not been any mechanical problems with the motor.
