I'm sorry I haven't followed the forum much recently. Since last fall and into this spring I've been helping my buddy Mike with his growing fleet of Chris Craft boats. We have one almost water ready ( '87 Amerosport 250), test splash will be tomorrow. However I realized I haven't done any work on the Gold CVX lately and summer is already here. Seeing that I would like a boat on the water this year and there is so much work to be done on the Gold CVX I kept scanning Craigslist and Marketplace for a suitable quick Glastron project.
So Much Work To Do Yet.......SIGH
Thu Is What I Found....
1986 CVX 18
228/305
Hull and Gelcoat in Great Shape.
Interior Presentable
Boat Is Complete includes center console
Trailer has 2 tires that hold air and all lights are working
Her's What it Needs
Floor is a bit soft in places
Transom has rot but no spider cracking in gelcoat
side panels in engine bay are soft
a couple cracks in seat upholstery
Oh I almost forgot...
The oil pan has a small hole in it where the connecting rod exited the motor in an unlike manner in which it entered, thus the attractive price.
Here's the plan to get it running this summer
Patch floor where needed
R and R engine --- should be easy as I have 2 305's and a pair of 351's in the garage. Some people collect Props, I have a collection of spare engines.
While engine is out replace transom wood.
This should get me on the water soon.
After the season I can replace the floor and the stringers if needed, also redo the engine bay side panels.
More pictures when I bring it home.
