in 2014 chevy is going to discontinue the iron block motors to mercruiser. offering only the LS motors to merc. The LS motors are deemed inefficient to the marine environment by mercruiser. so they are are going to build there own motors based on the chevy iron block. This is all i know BUT I also heard that within the next few years volvo will completely be out of the gasoline marine engine department and be exclusively diesel

I wonder if that means Mercury will bring back the aluminum block 3.7 liter engine they manufactured from 1976 to 1989, known as the "470".

Do many boats even have the 3.0 anymore? Seems like they are all too big. I am guessing the numbers are way down and is not worth it for GM to make them anymore.
