Title: Best way to anchor/anchor system?
Post by: jhetrick55 on October 18, 2018, 12:37:26 PM
I am new to Glastron ownership. I have a '72 Swinger v-176. On my old fishing boat I had an electronic anchoring system which worked great, however something like that won't fit on this boat. What is a good anchoring system for a Glastron like mine? I have an anchor with a rope that I store now in the forward compartment, but I'd ideally like something a little cleaner looking when in use. Any ideas?

I don't use my anchor often, so just keep it under seat.
Throw it in and tie it off to cleat when needed.
Had a big cruiser with an anchor locker in the bow, you could hear it clanking around under way.
Would think one mounted to bow would do the same.

I had an electric anchor winch on my Bennington pontoon, but I unclipped and stored the anchor when under way.  Rarely use one on my CVZ, but always carry one.  It does get used when beached.

I use a rope and anchor as well. Keep it simple!

Well seems like the rope and anchor system will stay. Maybe I can lessen the mess by getting rid of some of the 50' of rope I have. Maybe I could cut the rope at 25'. I think mostly I will use it for beaching, maybe a little for floating, but 25' should be sufficient. Thanks everyone!
