Title: intimidator exaust silencers
Post by: eta1091 on April 14, 2013, 07:48:00 PM
Anybody ever see the silencers that were available for intimidators? maybe they were an option? it appears that there is a groove in the inside of the exhaust for a setup. the ones I saw looked like supertrapp..I haven't seen a set since. they may have been custom.

I think Tim (Still Fishin) has a set.

I do have a set but the boat is in storage and I don't have any pictures of them.

Personally, I wouldn't want to quiet down a Timmi but I suppose there are times when it would be nice to have the option.

Honestly, on long runs the noise can be annoying. But it is an Intimidator. It is suppose to be. Now, if you are worried about the water cops I really have only gotten a few looks. Never been stopped for the noise issue.

Heck the exhaust is one of the main reasons I bought the boat. :D There are original silencers available in Germany if you need them let me know and I'll help you with everything.

I agree the exaust make the Intimidator what it is. It would be nice at times to quiet her down. I sure would like to see what a set cost from Germany.

It's kinda pricy. They are asking 128€ (167 US$) for the silencers plus shipping. I think there is still some room to talk but not that much. If you are interested let me know and I'll do my best to talk them down.

Forget the silencers! Mount some spark plugs back there and shoot some flames!!!

That's funny Jason.  When we had Burnin Daylight at the OKC boat show, a little boy asked me flames ce out the exhaust pipes.

Back in 2008 we had a member (forgot his user name) who showed up with his Intimidator, beautiful boat !
He just got it out of storage and wasn't idling right, so he had to rev motor in no wake zone.
DNR was on him like "Stink on Poop !" ...

I don't know for sure the years, but, for Barb's boat being a 1981 model, thru-hull exhaust from the factory, the USCG regulations include a few more db's than later years, would have to read the reg's to be more specific.

and Yes ... I too would like to have quietened Red's Gold some when we were a river cruise, 140 miles.

Just remembered about this thread.

My tips looked the same as Barbs on the out side but the inside was a little different. My mufflers use a set screw to keep them in place. Barbs had some kind of groove that they slid into. I'm not sure though, I've never seen that set. Anyways, here are a few pictures. If you need anything like dimensions let me know.

That was Dan.

What happened to him? I've never seen that boat since I've been involved with the club. Sweet Timmi.
Did he live up here near Scandia? I seem to recall hearing about him or even chatting with hi once.
Was that "Intimidated" or maybe I'm mixing him up with someone else?

Correction, Dan (Intimidator) from Marine on St. Croix.

He bought the boat from somebody near him (Forest Lake area or Marine on the St Croix) sold it after a year.

His screen name was NAPA DAN.

Show up to the first meet I went to in Lake City.

He was looking for a CV 21 years ago have not heard from him in along time.

See he is not a member here anymore.
