Title: Hey Doug, question about boat covers
Post by: Rosscoe on June 16, 2010, 08:07:32 PM
Doug

Something right down your alley.

What material is the best for a boat cover? I have a canvas one for the 163. May be the original. Has patches and stuff but I only put it on in the winter even though is stays inside. The canvas one I had for my first boat developed mildow/mold spots over time and eventually turned into holes.

One of the two may get stored outside this winter and if its the 175, I'll need a cover. Course there are always cheap tarps.
Maybe there is a combo/blend of material that is durable? I am not looking for one that can be trailered. I know thats another factor.

Thanks

Personally Ross I wouldn't use anything but Sunbrella. I don't believe there's a better product on the market.

If you don't wanna spring for a custom fit. Overtons, Cabelas, Bass Pros etc have some decent semi-custom fit covers for considerably less than a custom tailored one. And I believe they can be had in Sunbrella as well.

There's a seperate 800 number at Overtons just for covers. Or just go to their website  http://www.overtons.com

Great
Thanks for the info. I have purchased a lot from Overtons over the years. It is just soooo handy to buy stuff on line when you dont live in a city. Shafer Minnesota Population about 334. Been that way for years. Here I thought they'd change the sign when I moved here! 11 years later and it still says 334.

Opps I have side lined like I often do. :o

Shafer looks like a nice place Ross. Luv yer demographics ...  Seem to be some decent sized lakes just to your west. Can/do you run on 'em?

Btw I just read a 2007 census that posted your population at 361. Appears that somebody's been busy ...  You? Heh heh.

Take care.

361? Wow. Must be all from the trailer park! I'm not in Shafer proper but 2 miles east. There isnt much there. Couple of bars, combo post office/laundramat, gas stations.
Yes the lakes to my west is where I generally had been going. I never went in the rivers untill I got involved here. Those lakes are so low right now, I have no desire to even put in. Hit stuff the last 2 times.

It's a bump in the road to Turtle Lake.

It's a bump in the road to Turtle Lake.

That is correct, if you take hwy 8 from 35 but if you havent ever done it, take hwy 95 up from Stillwater, to 8. Much more scenic.
Doug...There is a casino in Turtle Lake. Been there maybe once. I cant afford to gamble (except with boats) because I play until I am cleaned out. Hmmm.. maybe something wrong there. ???

Hear ya Ross. I can't afford to gamble either. 'Less'n ya wanna play poker with me & my lil brother seated at the same table. Then yer in for a world of pain ...

Personally I believe 'institutionalized gambling'. ie State run lotteries, etc is a farce. A ripoff. A Ponzi scheme if you will.

Supposedly our lottery feeds FL schools with billions of dollars. You'd think we'd build better schools. Or more importantly hire better teachers with all that money. But sadly no. FLA kids are still some of the dumbest on the planet.

Methinks the money's going elswhere ...?

GA is the same way!  The lottery continues raking in big money, yet we're closing about 1/3 of the schools in some areas, increasing class sizes, doing away with band, art classes, other "non-essential" stuff.  The quality of education we're giving our kids these days.............depressing.

Think I'll go for a boat ride before it gets too hot outside!  I LOVE the smell of two stroke in the morning.   ;)

No I dont go there with the intention of losing but what I do, do is decided how much I will lose and when its gone. I am done. I only do slots anyways/ Blackjack looks fun but woulnt play it in a casino until I didnt looks so "green"

FYI
The casino we have here in Mn and Wis are all (I think) on reservations and run by the Native Americans so I dont think the state gets anything so they are thinking about legalizing gambling so other casinos can be open off reservations, the state can reap the revenue and we can screw the Indians AGAIN. Thats how I look at it anyways. Hey, look they are being sucessful here and in most cases, doleing out the profits amoung their tribe, so we need to get in on that action. I say, Leave them alone with that. We've hosed them enough.  Just my opinion.
Also, now that you dont even play with real coins, its really no fun and I may never go back. That is just pitiful, plus they eliminated all those jobs too.  >:(

Well they're not all on reservations. Fond-Du-Luth is in downtown Duluth.  Iowa has some Riverboats (my favorite is Miss Marquette} and we have the "Card Clubs" that aren't Native owned. If you go to Red Lake, or Mahnomen you would know they aren't ALL getting rich like the Shakopee Mdewakanton. I need to stop before I get on my soapbox.

You are right, they are not all getting rich or at least sharing it.
