Minnesota river this afternoon
« on: July 12, 2013, 02:52:23 PM »
i just cant stand another minute of work...
i have no clue what it looks like but am planning on trying to launch on the Minnesota.
i have not found a good source of current conditions.
thinking lost falls or ft snelling (at the hwy 77 crossing)
any comments on which is better ?
current seemed really strong at lost falls when we were there a month ago.
the angled ramp at ft snelling looks interesting from the satellite pix

There's a dock there (Ft. Snelling) at least there was the last few years, current was about medium in past years.
The MN. river is like a race track, tight and winding ...

We got to ramp at 77. Mud all up the ramp and a foot deep at the water line. Too much mud to launch. Gonna try the other fort Snelling ramp.

Joe, let us know the water and launching ramp conditions. The Minnesota River drops towards the fall of the year and is too shallow for boating.

Went up as far as 169...
Idled back down, picnic dinner and few beers, then some full throttle action, pulled out 8:45
Great night to be on the water :)
LOOK OUT FOR THAT TREE !

The MN river is fun. Must not have not have been too much debris, you didn't break anything. We might get out there Sunday.

How fast were you going when this happened? Was it floating or stuck?
