Shipping a hull with trailer
« on: August 20, 2022, 04:51:41 AM »
I am looking to buy a CVX20 hull in North Dakota, Dang trucking companies want $2500 to 3600 to move a hull on good trailer to Vermont.
I have recently moved an SuV from Oregon to Vermont for $1050 and quotes for one from TX were that or less.
Do you guys find shipping in your region to be crazy high?
Regards,
Charlie

If the trailer is in good shape, able to be towed, maybe look at Uship.

I have filled out a request on Uship,
Shiply just seemed out of line with quotes between $2700 to 4300 when I just shipped a vehicle from Oregon to Vermont for $1050.

A boat is always going to be more expensive than a car because most shippers can carry multiple cars but can only take one boat. If you can wait you can find that one person who needs a return load and willing to do it just to cover their fuel and a little extra. I have someone who is shipping a boat for me from Montreal to Dallas for $3,000 which I think is a great deal but he is using it to cover a trip he wants to make. If your patient you can find someone willing to do it just so they can pay for them going somewhere they want/need to go.

I registered this with Uship, two quotes came in between $5300 to $5700 for tow away, Uship puts $600 of FY fees on top of what the shipper asks, which were the highest I have seen.
One company from Shiply was $1800, I will start a conversation with them. Might be time to put my Superboat back on the market, That will take a day or two to sell.

Charlie

Shipping costs and fees have gotten extreme.    I drove to NY from Omaha to fetch my Intimidator project, and i had to rebuild the bearing/seals/tires before I came home with it.   Fortunately i had some great help getting it ready for travel.    Maybe fly in, rent truck and return?

Just for reference.

I had my GTR-160 towed from New Hampshire to Minnesota last April for about $1600, but ended up with a $150 fuel surcharge on top , as it was just when fuel was jumping $1 / week higher.

I got a quote of $3,000 to take my boat from Canada to Dallas which I think is excellent, but the guy does shipping so he can pay for his fuel to travel places. He is loading it on a flatbed so he can find a load to bring back to pay for his trip back. I got another quote last night on Shiply for $8,600. I do shipping here locally within like 150 miles and I have had to raise my costs due to fuel costs. If I wouldn?t have found the one person to take the boat to Dallas for me I probably would have ended up flying out and renting a truck to drive it back myself.

I had quotes all over the board too.  Shipping brokers were hitting me from all over with different prices.  Getting it up on a Flatbed is really good at that price.

Get a quote from Silver Express Logistics Transport

I had a car taken from California to Nebraska and it was so much cheaper. Good service, nice truck.

It doesn't hurt to ask them.
