New mercury outboards
« on: February 25, 2011, 10:48:12 PM »
I have been working for a freight company for many years, and of all the new mercs I delivered in the past, only the 9.9s were made in china.Today I had a mixture of 60s and 115s and the 60s were made in china.Any thoughts?

It used to be Mercs below 25hp were made in Japan because they were the same as Nissan Engines and all the rest were made in the USA. Now, who knows where anything is made anymore and a lot of it comes out of China, Korea, Indonesia, etc. Makes me sick!

Looks like the 50 hp are the same ci displacement, so they must be made there too ...
and the 8 hp is the same as the 9.9.
Wonder how many more are from China ?

Based on everything else I've gotten thats made in China, it would be junky. Lead paint, poor quality steel, aluminum etc. The only way to try to end this farming out our country is to not buy the sh*t I guess. It is disgusting.
