Adoption Update
« on: March 05, 2011, 07:27:53 PM »
Hi everyone...  It's been a rough road the past few weeks.  We had hoped that we would have a little boy home with us a few days ago, but it didn't quite turn out that way.  To make a long story short, the birth mother that we had been working with for over two months decided after the child was born that she was going to parent the child.

It was a complete shock to all of us involved including her parents.  Just 24 hours before the birth, everything had been great.  Lisa had been staying with the birth family for 7 days, and they had become very close.  Suddenly (and for whatever reason) the birth mother became cold and emotionless towards us.  She shut us out of the entire experience.  We stayed in the hospital for 2 days, but the situation would never recover for us.

Ultimatly, Lisa and I were able to hold the little boy for about 3 minutes each in our attempt to say goodbye to the child that we had grown to love.  It was extremely painful, and we both felt like we had our own child taken from us.

With that being said, Lisa and I both have a personal faith that has led us to believe that this is not the end of the road.  We believe that we are one step closer to the child that God has already chosen for us.  We have learned a great deal about each other, and we have become quite close through all of this struggle.  We were able to pray for the little child, and for the family.  We know everything is going to be ok.

So...  Thanks to all of you who have provided us support on our journey.  We are going to take another step forward, and hopefully there will be a new little Glastron fan in our home soon!

With love,

Brian and Lisa

My heart goes out to you Brian and Lisa.  I cannot imagine what a wicked roller coaster ride of emotions you must have gone through over this.  It does sound like you have a healthy attitude about it, and I sincerely hope and pray that you find the joy you seek very soon.

Very sorry to hear that Brian and Lisa, I hope he has a long and healthy life though.  Your time will come to be parents soon I am sure.  The little guy was very fortunate to have more than one mom and dad for a few minutes though.

Needless to say, what a tough situation. You guys jumped through a lot of hoops to get this far. I can only imagine what you guys are feeling. I would have thought at some time during the process that things would be etched in stone...done deal. Very sorry to hear that this has ended this way and hopefully the situation will turn around soon so you guys can move on. Very cruel on the part of the birth mother...in my opinion but I think we've all heard similar stories about how things can change after the birth and the mother just can not face handing over the child.

Brian .. I think you and Lisa know you have an Army of support here, that will go to the front lines to protect you two,  but about all we can do in this cituation is help you two hold up the shield of faith through our fervent prayers, holding on the the promise, that our father will not put more on us than we can stand.  me and the Fox, having lost our baby girl in 1974,  know the pain you and Lisa are feeling, and, like many more here, we are here for you any time bro, you know that.

Brain & Lisa - So sorry to hear about this. I'm sure the the planning and anticipation for birth of this child had pretty much consumed the last 2 months of your your lives - in a good way. Which is what makes it so hard. But this event is definitely nothing more than one of the steps in your journey to be parents.

That sounds like a really tuff thing to go through Brian and Lisa. Like you said, this is not the end of the road for you guys. I am sure the RIGHT little one will come around soon. Being that Jamie and I have not had any kids of our own it's hard for us to imagine how this all has affected you. I can only imagine all the emotions from all involved. We pray for you and the recently born little boy and that what happened will be the best outcome for everyone involved.

Brian and Lisa,

for whatever reason God has a plan and your odoption plans will work out.  I can only imagine how painful this must have been.  As the father of two wonderful adopted children from Guatemala I can tell you God put us together and it has been a wonderful experience.  My children are now 10 and 7 and I would not change a thing to include our infertility.

Keep the faith
