Trim tab adjustment
« on: July 02, 2013, 04:00:32 PM »
When Amber and I had Phoenix Rising out on Sunday she was pulling constantly to the left when cruising at speed. I was going to adjust the trim tab but I can't remember which way to turn it to compensate for the pull.

point the tab so it will be pushing the back of the drive to the right if the torque is steering the boat to the left

I think it's like when you lose traction on your car and you steer into the turn ....
so, if the boat pulls left, I think you want the front of the tab pointing left, too - like Red said, it should push the back of the drive like a weathervane towards the right to compensate.

Correct. Adjust the tab a few degrees in the same direction as the pull on the wheel. If the wheel pulls left adjust it a few degrees to the left as you're looking at it from behind the boat.

Yup. Turn the tab in the same direction as the pull. If'n ya have to go all the way, something else might be up.

Fyi tabs that 'lean' left, or right, are also available. Always figgered those would be a lil more efficient than the blunt stock ones?
