Death of a Glastron
« on: March 23, 2017, 01:33:52 PM »
Well Ben's old V-179 hull went to land fill today. It was quick, painless and cheep. Only $20 for 1300 lbs. Alit of it's parts went to help other boats. I though I would share a video of it getting crushed in less than a minute.

Never taken a Glastron in, but a beecraft, Larsen, Bayliner, and a webcraft have seen there last days here.  Hoping my x16 doesn't see that demise.  Anybody want it?

Good grief is that ever cheap. You'd never get by that cheap in the Twin Cities

I used to see that often when I was at the first boat yard I worked for. In fact the boat that donated it's parts for my V174 rebuild had that same fate. That was a 21 foot Chaparral that was given to me because it was too far gone to repair so I stripped it for the steering, transom, and trim parts. Cost me $110 to dump it. A bargain since I got thousands of dollars worth of parts in return.

It is actually the cheepest land fill around my area. It's a 40 minute drive from Central City. If I would have taken it to the transfer station in Grand Island, I would have been much higher. Oh, where the video was taken I was probably Bout 200 to 300 feet below the entrance to the place. A new pit for sure.
