This is so sad to read. I?ve been out of town this past week so just catching up now. Hands down, Jim was the most generous person I have ever met. From the gifts of my boys first life jackets, to an electric hoist in my garage so we could pull boat engines, to the best personal tours of lake Minnetonka that anyone could ask for. You all know Jim like I do so you know exactly where I am coming from. He was the heartbeat of the club for the past 14 years and it will never be the same without him. He will be greatly missed and NEVER forgotten.

I only know Jim from the forum and the several times I made it to Red Wing. That said he was always a fountain of knowledge ready to share with everyone.
 R.I.P. Jim you are missed.

Amber, myself and the boys will not be able to make it work to make it to the service. We are sending a plant or arrangement. We will watch the stream and be there in spirit.

just to the point i can write something here, Jim will be so missed.
i just posted this video on FB.
was looking for pix, in 2016 i was rebuilding the Bal Harbor. trying to get it done for the meet, it was sooooo hot that summer. i would take the morning off work, Jim would come to my house at 7:00 am and we would bust ass till it was too hot to work, layup resin. it did not make it to the meet, but we took it out camping at the Kinni on Nov 4th, Jim and Nichole met us out on the river that day. so many great memories.
as i was looking at all the pix, did ya all notice there is maybe only 2 pix of Jim alone in his boat, and in most it was at capacity.
he was always out there and making sure people were out on the water, and dragging them back in if they broke.
first time i met him was at Jason's when we pulled the motor (maybe 2013), Laurie actually met him before that as he had a bow cap for the GT, she stopped by his work and picked it up. it was a huge honor to be considered a friend.

I have contemplated for several days of what I could say to pay tribute to a friend that has passed.   I didn't know Jim as well as many of you did since I'm a couple states away, but Jim always made me feel welcome every time I was around.  Jim was a kind, generous, caring soul who you just felt comfortable around talking about just about anything.  He had a wealth of knowledge of many things, but especially boats.  He was the type of person you wanted to help because you knew he would help you if you just asked.   He was a keystone in the annual August Glastron meet and will be mentioned at meets for years to come.    Our time together has come to an end, rest in peace Tonka Jim, until we meet again.

I stopped by to drop off a meal to Kelly, Sarah & Rachel... mentioned that it might be cool if the Glastron friends were to wear some glastron attire, and they thought that would be a fun idea.  They thought Jim would like that better than formal attire.  :)

Jims funeral is tomorrow

Rich printed a small banner for people to sign (for Kelly and family), and I ordered a stack of a photo of Tonka Jim in his boat, for anyone that wants one at the funeral

I suggested that Glastron friends could wear their Glastron gear and Kelly thought that would be cool
