I ran across a 1977 CVX 20 with a Berkeley jetpack. The exterior is fair, IMO due to peeling gell coat. I am unsure of the size of the motor. The hull looks OK. The downside is that it has not been run in L-O-N-G time, circa 2002. I am trying to get more information. Any thoughts on price and function of this orange classic. I really should buy a deep V but,...........

Most cvx-20 jets are big block fords.. 460. But there are a few big block Oldsmobile 455’s or chev 454’s . We need to see some pictures of the boat to now what it might be worth. And you can tell motor diff. By where the distributor is. In front of motor it’s a ford, In back a g.m. Valve covers will tell the diff in g.m.’s. Again let’s see some pictures..

If it's peeling it would be a clear coat applied by owner. Please post some pictures ...
Motor would be the Ford 460, unless some one changed it.

Thanks to everyone who replied. Here is the link to the advert. I received a few more photos and I have requested more. I also receive this info and I am skeptical of part of it:
The trailer is roadworthy, the shortblock was done by a company in new hope, pa, and the company isn't in business anymore, the company was called aquaton marine. The shortblock came with new pistons and cams and all but the rest was from the original engine.

$8,900 seems like a lot of money for a boat that has been clear coated. That's just my opinion.

Ford 460 if you didn't know that already. It may have been indoors, but likely in unheated space for a long time. Just my opinion, but I'd pull the engine apart and inspect, only costs a gasket set to know. Engines in storage long term cross the dew point many times and condensation occurs. Now if you told me they went and started it every 30-60 days, that would be different. Add in the flaking clear(not original), not a desired Glastron trailer, and several other unknowns, I'd be hard pressed to offer his asking price of $8900.00 I love the lines of the 20 jet, probably the sexiest boat tail made.

Price seem very high for "Iffy" motor and peeling clear coat ...
No vinyl / interior , deck pictures ?
-
He did come down from the original $ 12000. Been for sale awhile .
-
That is a heavy price for a CVX20 with a gel coat in that condition.
-
What about this one Gregg posted? Original interior, gel coat looks nice...

Far better example of a cvx-20 in that ad.

Thanks for the comments and observations. The South Carolina CVX is quite gorgeous.
