Good morning Ray-

Thanks.  As it gets warmer, perhaps I could come down 91 for a visit, before you scrap your extra hull.  As I have no idea what steering wheel hub or spline is on this boat I have, I don't know what to look for, for replacement.   But yes, a wooden rim, similar to what WAS there originally might be nice.  But again, as others have pointed out,  I really should get the bigger bits working, before I worry too much about the smaller bits.  The motor is not a worry for me at all- the outdrive might be, as I have no experience with those.  Electrics and guages are not a worry, will just require some time.  Hull looks good, floor is good, interior is OK...

My engine cover is compete- it is unhinged, but again, the hinges might very well be somewhere in the boat- I haven't gone through it yet, as it is stored at my camp, 25 miles from home.

I am content with the paint for now.  Oddly, the "new" paint does not wrap around the stern- which remains the very very faded metallic blue gel coat.

I did just now find a couple of sites that gave some information about the HIN- my boat appears to have been built in April  (http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm)  But the prefix that I have written down (CLV) doesn't really seem right- that translates as... Calvert Manufacture Enterprises?   http://www.boatsafe.com/links/index.htm    I wonder if I mis-read that prefix- have to check sometime.

Shall we take contact information off list/forum?   My email is   rwoolner@sau66.org

Sincerely,

Bob W

" Is there an HIN decoder on line somewhere?  I found this website page...http://www.classicglastron.com/gl-identifying2.html   that implies that there is coded information in the hull number.  I understand the "year of manufacture"  part of that number.  What does the rest mean? "

Wish we knew ...

" How rare are the boats?  Any idea on numbers made?  Or of survival rate? "

Glastron sold a lot of them ... We don't know how many made or sold ...
