So over the past week to keep me from burning the boat with all the things I've been demolishing I have been doing the bits I find more interesting. I couldn't find a replacement set of glastron badges anywhere (yes typical there's a used set on eBay now! They aren't cheap though!)
So I thought I'd try fixing up the old ones. I was tempted to go with a carlson badge from the us but it wouldn't be right for a roger Clarke - my old ones were broken into three pieces.
I drilled the rivets and collected the parts.
I used a small lick of epoxy to glue the pieces all together. I then used a soldering iron to fuse the joins on the back and scored them.
I then had an issue (not to my work) that they wouldn't sit flat they bowed... this time the heat gun came out on the back for 30 seconds a piece then clamped between two bits of wood for 5 minutes.
I then rubbed back the epoxy where it was badly noticeable and sprayed them matt black.
I then got a hobby paint roller some silver paint and gently rolled the silver on top.
I then used a little bud to clean up the awkward spots. I may need a little more silver but what do you think?
