Title: Satellite pictures of sunami damage

Drag the slider bar located in the middle of each picture to the right and to the left

These show the devastation clearer than what I've seen on the news ...
When I'm looking at this on TV, I didn't realize so many different areas.

Those pictures make me realize how blessed I am with a home, food, family, health, and a peaceful community.

I think if your standing in a room and the the distance from the floor to the ceiling is what those people hit by tsunami are going through, we can maybe understand about the thickness of a piece a paper.  The whole thing is pretty tragic and hopefully they get the nuclear reactors stabilized quickly so the Japanese people at least don't have that to worry about.

Yeah if one of those things cooks off a lot more people than Japanese'll be worrying.

If you own a Toyota, sell it you won't get parts. If you ever want a new TV or camera buy it now, there won't be any more. I think the whole island is going to melt down. nothing will go in, nothing will come out of Japan. The radiation will be too bad. I hope not, but it doesn't look good.

FYI. Most Toyotas are built in the US using US parts. The Camry for example is built in the US with 80% US parts. Sadly to say is more "American" then some of our GMC's built in Mexico with Korean transmissions and Chinese engines...........

I know Mitusbishi and a lot of the Japanese Factory's over there did shut down production though.

Interesting Pictures Gregg. Very sad.

For once I agree with you Jerry. Heh heh. But seriously, I do believe it's far worse than we're being told. And from what we are told it appears pretty bad. I'm relatively sure explosions at and/or smoke clouds rising over nuclear plants are not a good thing ...?

Jason, The Toyota may get by, but 2 GM plants have been closed because they can't get parts out of Japan.

You are right Jerry. With how intertwined the world is these day's, I am sure every car on the road has some part in it from Japan. It will be interesting to see how much of the economy stalls out because of this.

My Toyota Tacoma was made/assembled in California. Would that be considered American made?

Sure is, but I don't know if anything comes from Japan. Most of the electronics that make the new "computer controlled" cars run come from there.  Don't break it.

Car and Driver just did an article on this in their April 2011 issue. I actually requested they do it in an email I sent to them. Did I get any credit for it? Of course not!

Anyway, For the US Government to consider a car to be "from America" is must be made up of at least 75% US parts by value.
Toyota Tacoma: 50%

Most American: Ford Explorer: 90%

Interesting:
Honda Accord: 80%
Toyota Camry: 80%
Mitsubishi Eclipse: 80%
Toyota Tundra: 80%
Ford Crown Vic/ Grand Marquis: 75% (Too bad Ford had to quit making the best car ever made. Guess I'll never own anything newer than a 2010!)

Imports:
Chevy Silverado/ GMC Sierra: 61%
Ford F150: 60%
Dodge Ram: 70%
Ford Fiesta: 10%

Anyway, as much as I wish these facts were not true, it's the way the world is today.

I'm still gonna stick to my old fashion design, Front Engine, rear drive, full frame, American Sedan! God Bless America!

(wow, I blew this thread WAY out of it's original context!)
