Whoopeeee !
« on: July 24, 2010, 10:54:05 PM »
It's Official  !
the Fox got the approval today to change her scherdule with her other job,  we will get to join you guys up there for the meet.  We will probably be pulling into Red Wing the evening of the 19th, Thurtsday, wondering if we can set up our tent at the campground that evening, I guess there will be others there to show us where to go ?

I have been hearing that the only gas available up there is blended with ethanol, wonder about the marina ?  the cost of gas at the marina,  I may just fill up here for the trip, I have two tanks, 52 gallons, that will probably be enough for the trip, but it sure does slow the boat down, thats 364 pounds of gas, and 252 pounds of that is up in the bow.  Gas here in Oklahoma City today is $2.49 a gallon for 87 octane, but I run the 91 0ctane $2.64 a gallon, and I dump a little octane booster in that. When I took it down the Arkansas river a few weeks ago, the gas at the marina there at Van Buran Arkansas cost $3.98 a gallon for 87 octane,  I guess they can charge what ever they want to, it's 45 miles up stream to the next gas pump, and 70 miles down stream to the next.

We are Really excited to get to come up there, we bought a new tent that is suposed to set up in One Minute, according to the video, so me and the Fox can probably get it set up in at Least 30 minutes. Are we gonna need a fan at nite ?  wonder what the temperature will be ?  the nites here are mid 70's, we been having mid to upper 90's during the day, was 96 today and windy.

Just for the fun of it, I'm including a video Link of the Fox driving the Scimitar when we first got it,  this was the first time we had it in the water and the Fox wanted her turn at the wheel ...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0yG1XrWjhQ

I never pay attention in MN when I fill up...but...Iowa still has non-ethanol gas if MN doesn't.  I was pretty sure that I used 92 Non-ethanol when I filled up in MN last time.

Regardless...you'll be taking I-35 up...Clear Lake, IA is 30 Miles from the MN border...you could fill up there for sure...more than a few Gas Stations right off the freeway.

No Way !     am I Not going to take the fox to a Casino, especially that far from home, I'd probably have to sell the Scimitar just to get back home.

Thanks Brian,  and Yes, we took your advice and bought a big Thick air mattress, and a little battery  powered pump to blow it up with, we are not really campers.  My idea of "Roughing It" is a houseboat with-out a generator.
