Do the research first, the ls platform is impressive, but very little of your old school 5.7 will transfer over.  Certainly possible but you will outspend a rebuild of the existing.  Easiest and cheapest would be finding a decent 5.7 longblock to swap in, or rebuild your current engine.

If you are entertaining the idea of the LS platform here is what I've found to give you rough estimate on cost.
$1000-exhaust, potentially more if you want to run O2 sensors.
$500-stand alone harness if going with the original efi
$300-$1200-motor. LM7's (5.3L) can be found pretty cheap ($500 area), LQ7 & LQ9 (6.0L) are around the $1000 mark.
$200-fuel pump (in tank)
$50-motor mounts
$200-$1000-cooling, I planned on putting a heat exchanger in place of the original radiator.
$300-$500-tuning
?-starter
?-alternator
?-Coil relocation brackets

This is the stuff I can remember of the top of my head. Plus you would need to fit it all together.

No 'hot rod' engine for this boat!

Shawn has offered the 350 from his doner boat because he is going with a stroker.
If it checks out, that's what's going in the 23

Block was cracked external, internal (in the valley) and one of the heads was split.
I think this has become an addiction.

Time to hack it up and make it the CGOAMN fabrication engine for custom work.  You could even rent it out to hot rodders for fab work.

Thanks to Shawn I have a good 350 from his donor boat.

Maybe Shawn could use the torn down block for his mock-up

Pretty sure I heard a knock in both videos. Better tear it down and see what's the matter w/it before you put it in the boat!  ;)

I was told the Tonka does not drink?  Runs over logs in camp at 1:30am as a means to make firewood, but not drink...........
