I have been messing with the new forward/reverse cable and throttle too and I think I have the throttle working properly but I am not sure about the whole things operation.
So question for the jet guys... I thought you were supposed to be able to go from forward to reverse pretty much at will because there are no gear changes to do that but as it sits today, in order for me to be able to throtle up with the cup/diverter closed (almost closed) I have to disengage the F/R cable via the disengage lever. Is that correct?
When I bring the throttle control back to neutral, it will not move aft until it is disengaged. I read about a technique where by going back and forth, you could get in and out of slips and other spots but the way mine is operating now, you'd need to reach down and disengage the linkage. If that is not how its suppose to operate, then I'm at a loss.
Also above and beyond that, does this sound right? It appears that the cup/diverter starts to close as you throttle back. Sounds normal until I thought about it more. Now that is going to start to divert water forward and create drag and slow you down. Not all bad unless you are cruising at half throttle and its partially closed. I would think it should be wide open back there.
I'm a bit confused.
