V174 Project
« on: February 27, 2013, 09:58:49 AM »

It's time to see how bad the '68 V174 is!
I've had a bad floor issue under the rear seats for a couple of years & noticed a transom leak last summer.
Jason has offered to help me pull the 120 out this Saturday, 3/2 at his place in Hudson.
With the engine out of the way & gimbal off, I can get a better look at the transom.
Hopefully it won't be a major project & we will be back on the water after ice-out.
I have a 140 & gimbal set-up from 1974 that will go back in when work is completed.

Pulling the engine & gimbal should only take about 2 hours, we are starting around 10:00 AM.
I'll order pizza when work is done!

Does the gimbal assembly need to be swapped out for the 140? I didn't realize the 120 was different.

Absolutely, anyone who wants to come, come on over. If you don't have my address send me a message.

I don't think the gimbal assembly will need to be swapped but you get a better transom seal and trim system with the newer gimbal.

The way the tilt/trim hoses go thru the transom is different, much easier to replace on the newer style.
