I'm either having flashbacks or PTSD right now!  :-[

Are you going to have to recut the hole for the newer transom assembly like I did with mine?

I had a home-made template that was traced from an Alpha hole and cut out of a piece of plywood, shown below. I've been trying to get it from the shop where I used to work so I can make a copy of it. You just have to line up the template with the top of the key-hole and match the 4 bottom bolt holes. The upper pair of bolt holes will need to be filled and re-drilled about an inch higher. I used wooden dowels in the holes to align and secure the template.

Yea, much fun had by all. Lots of wet wood and foam. I was impressed by how those multi tools work for this kind of thing. I'm glad I got one for Christmas.
Jim still has plenty of work ahead, removing the floatation boxes and flooring in the rear. It was good to see that the entire floor doesn't need to be replaced.

Had a GREAT times guys !
Was fun to see every one again, because I missed the breakfast get together ...
Have a question for Rich ...
What is this ?
Jim said boat has been repowered once before, and we were wondering if this has some thing to do with the old motors generator ?

Jeff is a boat rebuildin' machine !
Had to take a pretty good sized chunck out of transom and rear right side of floor.

That is the voltage regulator for the alternator. My '67 120 had it too, at the time alternators were externally regulated.

Power trim hoses went through that hole. Looked like the same block that bolts to the bottom of a newer MR gimbal assembly was bolted right to the transom. Jim is going to plug that hole.

Got it. Mine had the old style tilt-only system, single hydraulic line to each cylinder and they came out of the side of the transom shield, not the bottom.

I am not sure his gimbal is original either. There was silicone between the transom and gimbal assy. Or at least it's been off before.

A big THANKS to the Glastron pit crew that showed up on Saturday

After taking a fall Friday night, I didn't think I could expect the crew to jump in and do my work.
The 174 went back into storage Sunday for a few weeks until I heal a little bit.
Special thanks to Jason for use of his garage & Jeff for not quiting until the bad wood was out of the transom.

I will add to this post when I get back at it & start cutting the flotation boxes out.

Jim

Feel better and don't take too long of a break, I'm itchin' with ya to see your boat completed and running again. In the meantime, these two pics posted earlier made me laugh, especially because of the order they were posted so I couldn't resist but notate one of them. Hope you get the same laugh out of them as I did, laughter is the best medicine.  ;D

I never thought of it that way.
Jeff is being "born again"?

Jim
Hope your back feels better soon. It hurt to even hear the story of you falling and hitting your spine on the hitch. Ouch!

Youch! Is that what happened? I know exactly what that feels like, not fun at all! I slipped off a boat once at the shop and hit my back (left kidney area) on the tongue of a trailer, cracked two ribs and had the wind knocked out of me. My sympathies, relax and get well soon.

I slipped while digging the 174 out of the snow bank Friday night.
Fell backwards and landed with the reciver ball in the middle of my back & on my left butt cheek.
As you all know being Glastron owners, there was no padding in my wallet in my back pocket.
